Confession 14

well how did this one manage to skip being blogged about.

Andrew McMahon tried to give me hot dog bangs.

you're hook right? thats what i thought. should we start at the beginning, yes? even though the hot dog bangs line is good enough.

Lyons and i decided to head to chicago one sunday afternoon for some shopping, big city life, and the Cancel out Cancer show, brought to you by Treaty of Paris. I was on board strictly for shopping and donating my $10 to a cancer fund (having just lost my grandma to bone, throat, and brain cancer). I probably should have given more but it seems like every time i turn around we are donating money in her name, which isn't bad but this months money went to the baby tigers in upper michigan.

to my dismay, there was no shopping. this night was going to be a bust. Lyons was jazzed because word on the street was Andrew McMahon was going to be making a surprise appearance. Honestly, i don't listen to Jacks Mannequin but lyons has the "if its with in a 6 hr drive, she is there rule."

i left the show feeling good. i enjoyed myself. there were A LOT of bands, which makes me uneasy. i hate being trapped in a room for too long. but i left loving the song Treaty of Paris played with Andrew. (only to be DLed the next day, listened to on repete, until i realized it was about to bump Suzanna out of my most listened to songs...(its a new computer so it really doesn't count anyway)).

We found our savvy chicago friend "ludo amanda" and made plans for the night. we went down a couple building to a bar, the name didn't stick, where amanda and lyons kicked a couple back and i stood back checking my myspace (rehab is needed).

Thats when Andrew a crew walked in. We found our way to George, Treaty's front man's VERY social dad, who introduced us to Andrew. He was very nice. I adore him. He is very good with names, he remember meeting Lyons from 3 years ago! thats bananas. i guess having a unique name pays off.

He bought four shots, offered me one, saying i looked like i needed a drink but i was driving so i turned it down. Amanda slammed one down with him, which i am pretty sure is a classic moment in history. Lyons and Amanda left me standing alone when i felt an arm around my shoulders and it was my new friend Andrew McMahon. He introduced me to his "good friend seth from the audition" and insisted that i check them out. and this is how my life with boys in bands ALWAYS goes...

Seth: you have cool bangs... (why do boys say that to me? they are bangs)
Me: oh, thanks...
Andrew: don't be scared, we are friend, this is how girls used to wear their bangs when i was in school. *insert him hot dog rolling my bangs*
Me: are you really trying to give me hot dog bangs???
Andrew: this is how they wore their bangs...

thats when lyons turned around with the "what the hell is happening look." and if i knew i am sure i would have stopped it. it happened again about an hour later. its was insane.

after lyons was done having her fun, we said good bye to our friends, including andrew & seth. Lyons told Andrew she was waiting to listen to the album even though it was leaked and he told her "do what you gotta do man, i understand, do what you gotta do." she insisted that she wouldn't listen to it until it came out and he hugged her and told her how much that meant to him.

What an awesome guy. perhaps lyons will share a CD with me to convert me. until then. Everyone Listen to Locksley and go see them on the Choose or Lose tour this fall.

Kisses,
Angst

Confession 13

Now that i have that out of my system (the Packers Rant), lets get to the good stuff.

The Foxy Lady Cruise with Forever the Sickest Kids.

Lyons and I apparently missed the radio station memo that said you have to be 16 or younger (or a parent of said 16 year old) to attend the cruise. thats awkward. We also missed the memo that you had to bring FTSK a shit ton of home made bracelets. color my face red.

I felt more than stupid being there with the teen wearing the FTSK tshirts and neon pants. i was super salty the whole time, ESPECIALLY when they boarded the boat and the girls next to me screamed so hard i thought joe jonas was with the guys. that would have been cool.

THEN, to add to my sour mood, jonathan cook, lead singer and all around texas boy, was rocking a Dallas Cowboys hat. Lyons had to hold me back by the belt loops so i would A. strangle him with the hat or B. leave the boat.

After talking to the boys, my mood changed. their set was really good. i wish kyle had a bongo or something. i felt weird, as i am sure he did too, sitting behind the band with nothing to do.

Can we get the kid a pizza box to tap on or something?

They played 2 songs i never heard of before. i felt like a caged animal, why was i crammed so tight in there, was this that important to me? apparently.

i really do like them. they won lyons over too.

Jonathan referred to the boat ride as "the best first date ever" (like he and i were on a date). i would say any date that involves 100 Fifteen year old girls wanting to meet him, no dinner, and i am pretty sure he slow danced with another girl, does not qualify as "the best first date ever" in my book. but it was still charming.

Forever the Sickest Kids, we will see you in October, you promised to remember our faces. we will see wont we.

Confession 12

Dear Green Bay Packers,

you made a poor choice when you traded Favre. please do something ridiculously vulgar to yourself as punishment. and tell Rodgers to shave his mustache. its ugly. Work on your special teams, because its currently the best part of the game. Ted Thomson please retire. you are my new arch nemesis.

We attended an after party where Lyons, may or may not have danced till dawn with the drummer of Ludo to michael jackson classics. I wouldn't know, i was trying to spoon kyle burns from Forever the Sickest Kids with out him knowing. other details have been forgotten due to the open bar.

good times with good friends.

Confession 8

Why do i Hate to Love Trace Cyrus?

so we have been lacking in the up dates lately, mostly because we have been rather busy bees the past couple weeks. so there will probably we a couple new blogs posted today. sorry if its overwhelming, but our lives are overwhelming.

this one shall be short.

Lyons and I went to the Soundtrack to your Summer tour. Only really excited to see Metro Station. We thought it wouldn't be that crowded since we saw metro station at the Rave 2 times before. Each time before we got there about 10 mins late and walked to the front.

no such luck this time. who knew they blew up. we had to fight to get to the front to have any luck in fulfilling our summer goal of Trace saying something dirty and pointing at us.

it was hotter than a mother but we wormed our way to the 3rd row. thanks hanson for the dodging and darting lesson.

merto station came on. trace was all over and he headed our way for a dirty part of a song. we didn't not get the point that we were looking for. we got and inappropriate body roll.

consider that checked off on our summer to do list.

music- boys like girls-thunder <---they weren't that bad. eh eh?

Confession 10

I am Officially changing my name to Suzanna

Boys and Girls, sometimes relationships just don't work out. it doesn't mean that they don't love each other anymore but lets just say sometimes people just don't make it together. That being said, sad news, the wildbirds are officially divorced.

i personally am very sad. Golden Daze is one of my Top 5 favorite CDs & a band like that doesn't roll around everyday.

The Wildbirds had their very last show EVER on July 26th and they, as always killed it. I was up front loving every minute of it with Lyons. I introduced her to them about 8 months ago, specifically because i didn't want to go to the AIDs infested dive bar that they were playing at alone, but lyons left a big fan.

So i was a little confused when i saw their opening act but it was really entertaining non-the-less. it was 4 drag queens preforming to random songs, the one that did the Spice Girls jam was my favorite! She/he ripped off the first layer of clothes to reveal a beaded british flag ensemble.

After the queens, i was pretty amped for the wildbirds to come out. And when they did it took everything i had not to go a little fan girl, however, if i did lift my sundress over my head and start screaming for Nicholas, Jonathan, or Hugh, i don't believe any of them would notice or care. it was a good old fashion rock show, equipped with the token drunk man, who handed Nicholas a bottle of something, that without thinking he took a swig of and handed it back to the token drunk man. there was the drunk girl dancing like a stripper. someone smoking pot in the street. the power kept turning off in the middle of the songs. it happened 5 times i believe. and plenty of hippie-tastic girls and boys.

i looked to Stroik to hold me up, so i wouldn't collapse into a pile of teary eyed beads and linen fabric during Suzanna, but she didn't think it was worth the effort. since i got my new computer i can't tech. say its the 1 most played song on my itunes, but it did hold that position of a solid 9 months. if there were anyway i could arrange for nicholas to sing me to sleep every night with that song i think i would do whatever it took.

Well, i am happy that i got to attend the last show. i knew they were broken up a while ago, oddly enough Taylor Hanson told me (i knew before taylor told me but it sounds more scandalous that way), but i am glad they did one last show & it was in WI.

cheers to the Wildbird with a Cig in one hand and a beer in the other!

music- none, just a moment of silence...

Confession 9

Sing it loud, equals total jail bait.

have you heard Sing it Loud yet? i think you should check them out if you haven't. don't be confused though, they all look like mini versions of boys from other bands. its pretty remarkable, but i believe i talked about that in the summerfest blog.

so the boys in sing it loud totally won us over at summerfest and when lyons and i found out they would be rolling into our hometown we knew we for sure wouldn't miss it. i am obsessed with the song Bite Your Lip. really. its pure magic.

dear sing it loud boys,
next time you play a show please put Lyons and I on the guest list. We will give you our cover charge to go right into your pocket instead of having you share with the other bands that we weren't so amped to see. that could have been $42 right in your super tight jean pockets.

back to the show though.

these guys are pretty young. they are mostly 19 i believe, if i have done my research correctly. so lyons and felt weird thinking that some of these boys were cute.

cut to us being thrown in prison for rowdy inappropriate taunts.

they had a pretty big set that night since they were the 3rd band to play. i was pretty sure that they would be the first since they are pretty new, but i am glad that they weren't. they deserve better. either it is the lead singers usual stage banter to admit that he is "medically obese" (i use that term to describe skinny kids who are out of shape) and can't finish a set without wanting to collapse or i have just been to 2 uniquely long shows. which i don't mind.

after the show Lyons had to buy another copy of their EP. yes, another copy. she now owns 2, and this is becoming a habit of hers. she feels like she needs to help bands and purchases their album a couple time. i think she has like 7 copies of Ludo's new CD. ok not that many but she has a couple.

then like the fan girls we are, we lingered around to get our pictures with them. I had a major feeling that this band would go the way of metro station. we would see them a lot in a short span of time, never wanting to make the real effort to meet them and get to obligatory fan photo, always saying "we'll do it next time", then there never being a next time because tweens are fight over the grass they walked on. We will always have you Blake *wink*

anyway, the string bean of a lead singer is either A. emo B. shy C. was tired D. not impressed with our witty banter, because he really was less than entertained with us and even darted into the back room the second the flash went off on our second picture. i didn't even get to ask for my silly photo that i was hoping to get where we were, picture it, holding hands really far apart looking like a awkward couple. i guess locksley is the only band that will ever take fun pictures with me.

we couldn't find the mexican jumping bean of a bass player so we decided to pack it up and go home. ahh but alas the jumping bean was in the parking lot. after a short wait we talked him up a little bit and he is by far the nicest band boy i have ever met. just genuinely thanking us for coming to see his band, really excited to hear that we came to see them, boys in bands like this really seal the deal for us. if we hate your band and you are overly nice to us, we will for sure become fans. we were already fans of Sing it Loud so i think the next step is obviously to form a fan club? no?

ok maybe not, we will just continue to go to their shows and jump around.

i didn't ask for my awkward photo with the jumping bean either. next time?

sing it loud gets the big stamp of approval from Angst and Lyons.

Confession 7

Summerfest wrap up from Lyons: Since Angst posted her own Summerfest blurb on our blog, I confess that I felt the need to do the same so....

Boys and Girls who all went to Summerfest?! Go on, don't be shy; raise your hands and sent us a line! We want to hear alllllll your stories.

Angst and I went a bunch of dates with our good friends Stroik and Stroik 2 and had a blast.

Dates attended:

June 27th - Cavashawn - They rocked it pretty awesomely and didn't let the rain stop them.

June 28th - The Effects and Dashboard Confessional - Stellar times were had at both.

June 29th - Jack's Mannequin and 10 minutes of the Polyphonic Spree - Jack's Mannequin was nothing short of mind-blowing and the Polyphonic Spree were fun and uplifting as they always are.

July 3rd - Butterfly Assassins, Danger Is My Middle Name, The Frantic, City Riots, Sing It Loud, Ludo, and The Plain White T's - It was a packed day that was truly filled with off the wall bands. Major *snaps* to all of them because I think it was one of the most fun days we've had this summer so far.

July 6th - *ahem* The Jonas Brothers. I took my adorable emo 13 year old sister who stopped breathing every 3 1/2 minutes. I imagine that's the kind of excitement the amphitheater was filled with in 1998 when Hanson played. *sigh*

Angst posted some photos from her trusty iPhone on our "Brave Little Adventures Of An iPhone" album so go take a look! I also uploaded a ton on my facebook page so if we are buddies on there, please feel free to browse through and giggle.

Song of the Day: "Penny (Perfect For You)" - Plain White T's

Name Drop of the Day: Stroik. She's being quite the love sick gal and needs some loving 'n attention from a boy that DOESN'T live in a different country *coughCANADAcough*

Will everyone please send her a message telling her to stop mourning over the "love of her life"? I think throwing in a line about how "there are other fish in the sea" would be a good positive thing to add. AND if you could include the myspaces of any nice cute single Lutheran boys for her to shift through, that would be top notch. Stroik's myspace can be conveniently found in our top friends on myspace listed as the third top friend ;)

First person to write to her AND to tell us will get a special prize!

Always looking for someone to embarrass,

Lyons

Confession 6

I now know Tom Higgenson Religion and it was Uncomfortable.

Before i start this i just want to let jack the camera guy know that i am super dissapointed that TAI TV still isn't up and it is monday afternoon. whats the issue? what more do you have to do in life or for a job for that matter? nothing, thats what i thought.

Where i left off was with Sing it Loud (a adorable band from MN) was setting up their gear. i had a stomach full of burrito and thought i might up chuck at any moment. Heat + mexican food + crazed tweens = one crazy feeling in my stomach. There were girls that were absolutely bananas for these guys, which i thought was really funny since when i saw them about a month and a half ago, no one knew who they were. i loved them. they sing the theme song to my life called "bite your lip." i wish a fictional character (marcus flutie) didn't forever change me.

Sing it loud is composed of look a likes from other bands. its pretty amazing. the singer is a sexy version of isaac hanson circa 99. i thought it was impossible too. to have a sexy version of that but there is. i am in lust with him. he doesn't have the braces ::spits thank God sign of the cross:: the keyboard player looks like Demar from the plain white T's. ironic that they played a show together, i hope they got a picture together. its truly un-canning. however i think and well dressed black man looks like demar. then the bass player looks like a dude from mayday parade. i am not sure what said dudes name is but i know they look a like.

the poor kids were having so much trouble with their gear. mostly the amps. the boy who looks like the Mayday Parade kid ended up storming off the stage during sound check. mini ike just stood there not knowing what to do and tasseled his hair every 30 secs.

all and all when the stuff started working they were really good. i think the best was when mini ike announced, "we are normally opening acts that only get to play for 20 mins and this set is really taking it out of me, fuck i am tired!"

Next up to bat was LUDO! oddly enough most of the crowd was there to see them and not the plain white t's. people were rocking the ludo gear all over the place. why? cause they are fricken AWSOME! so if you recall, we asked andrew to play girls on trampolines at bamboozle and he yelled at us saying he hated that song and they would never play it. cut to them dedicating "the next song to all the german girls out there." We all went insane. this is the point in the show were i lost all pride, flung myself against the barrier, practically clawing at Convy. that song always gets me. i think we were the only 3 people that knew it too, everyone else was like "what the hell is this???" its a classic ludo song, thats what it is.

i have to say the best moment of the set was when farell went to do his guitar solo for love me dead and climbed onto of some speakers (in his white pants). it was deffinatly a rock star moment. but it was the look on convy's face when he saw farell climb up there. his grin was from ear to ear and he was laughing like a mad man. i think i saw farell mouth "i am a golden god."

so after an hour wait the plain white t's came out. i only got one crazed fan girl shake from annalee. so my arm is in tack. no bruises from her. they were all self inflicted bruises during ludo. Tim lopez loved us. we were his focus for most of the night. Tom could care less.

Dear tom, if you ever run across this, i have to say...please wear underwear on stage. i know your religion now and it was very uncomfortable. it was like a car accident. i could not stop looking. that is not a good thing. don't be impressed with yourself. in-fact i will purchase a 6 pack of hanes for you. done.

they were pretty good. i called dibs on Dave, but apparently someone already had dibs on him so i am second in line for him.. did i mention demar was bald? i didn't see that one coming either.

so lets get to the good part. i know jessie needs a recap because she blacked out most of the night and all she can do is shake and say "i should have gone up...i should have..." so the PWTs left the stage and came out for the encore, of course singing "hey there deliha." the song after that, i don't even know what it was since i only know 2 of their songs, Tom forgot ALL the words. i understand forgetting a line or 2 but he had nothing. it was awkward music and no singing.

Dave, who apparently doesn't ever talk gets on the mic and goes, "Jesus Tom, is this really happening now?" to which Tom replied "well dave i think you should sing since i don't know any of the words" and dave shot back with "the only problem with that is, i don't know them either, you wrote it..." Thats when Tom started frantically scanning the crowd. for once he looked down by us and i knew, it was my time to take advantage of being in the front row. I started jumpping up and down, pointing at annalee screaming "she knows it." i have never seen her neck snap at me so fast and she yelled "noooo, what are you doing!?!?"

Tom stopped and goes "do you know it?" and annalee was like "no, but she does..." pointed at jessie. then annalee and i were both pointing at jessie going "she does, she knows it!!!"

Jessie was like a deer in the headlights. Next thing i know, Tim, Tom, and Dave are all looking at us leaning in trying to get one of us up there to finish the song. tim kept saying, "get her up here if she knows it!" and tom scared all of us when he was like "well, if you don't know it, it will be worse for you than it would be for me..."

and thats when mike started the song. who knew he was even in the band. the best was jessie going, "did that really just happen?!?!" sure did, there were 1000 people there that would have saw her on stage with the PWTs and she didn't take it. thats dumb.

they did one more song after that. then they were done. we got our PWT swag, guitar picks, drum sticks, and set lists. then Tim Lopez came out.

jessie blacked out again.

he made his way down by us. he made chit chat with us. signed some stuff and took a photo with us. "you guys should have came up on stage if you knew the words, you were more than welcome. Tom sure didn't know what was going on."

i lost interest after the photo was taken. annalee and i wandered over and found ludo matt. we just talked about playing girls on trampolines for my b-day on warped tour. it was a good night until i got back to my car and saw some one stabbed my tire. i am almost 23 and still scared to tell my dad about car related troubles.
